Training for hESC Research
Course for graduate student credit. CMM251, Laboratory Course for hESC Research, is a five-week course at the Facility offered in Winter, 2007. It will likely be offered again in Summer, 2008.
Individual Basic training: With the expertise and assistance of Dr. Karl Willert and his staff, scientists from around UCSD can learn the basic methods to culture hESCs. This core facility can help jump-start projects on hESCs which otherwise would require significantly more time and resources to initiate and develop. Individual training with Dr. Willert and the HESCCF staff can be tailored to the needs of individual researchers, their postdocs, students, and staff members.
Individual specialized laboratory equipment training can be tailored to the needs of individual researchers, their postodcs, students, and staff members.
Advanced methods training. Several methods have been implemented in the lab for routine manipulation and analysis of hESCs.
--Lentiviral gene transduction for introduction of transgenes into hESCs
--Animal Protocols for derivation of MEF feeder cells and teratoma formation
The costs for training are established based on approved recharge rates.
